mafi Indonesia introduced

246.9 million People in 1,919,440 million km² - that’s Indonesia in numbers. It’s an emerging country in which European products play an increasingly important role. As of 2014, mafi natural wooden floors from Schneegattern, Austria will also find their way to Indonesia via our Indonesian partner. We spoke to Mr. Thomas Kellenberger:

The first 3 months we will use to make the brand known with exhibitions and events. As of May 2014, we will open the first flagship store in Surabaya. More are planned in Jakarta, Bali, Medan and Bandung up to 2017.

mafi: Two Swiss guys in Indonesia - please tell us how it came about:

Kellenberger: Two Swiss guys in Indonesia: After several past trips to Indonesia, the desire to do business here and live here became ever greater. Towards the end of last year, Fabian Castrischer, with whom I have already built in a forty-employee company in Switzerland, decided to come on board.

Very interesting are the biggrowth numbers, the ever increasing demand for high quality building materials and the desire and pursuit of the Indonesian population for European quality.

From a personal point of view, I find Indonesia is a beautiful place to live. Beautiful weather, wonderful scenery, lovely people and food are just some of the advantages here in a hardly comparable diversity.

mafi: Why did you decide to start mafi Indonesia?

Kellenberger: Looking for a suitable business idea for Indonesia, I confronted my brother (owner of a Swiss flooring company) with my idea. I said I was looking for a high quality, honest trendsetter product that already had a worldwide position. I said that I could not use shipping to China for surface finishing.

Then, as a qualified expert, he said: There is only "mafi"!
After several visits to mafi and exploring other business opportunities, Fabian Castrischer and I clearly chose mafi. Everything simply fits: the product, the team and the marketing are excellent.

mafi: you’re about to open your first mafi flagship store - which customers do you want to contact?

Kellenberger: architects and interior designers as well as private clients. The first 3 months we will use to make the brand known with exhibitions and events. As of May 2014, we will open the first flagship store in Surabaya. More are planned in Jakarta, Bali, Medan and Bandung up to 2017.

mafi: How does a wooden floor can withstand the sometimes extreme climatic conditions in Indonesia?

Kellenberger: Because the mafi three-layer floor is very dimensionally stable, we do not expect any problems due to the climatic conditions. mafi floors have already been tested in similar climates and work flawlessly. Of course, the installation work must be adapted to the local conditions and because we work with our own specially trained installation teams, we can offer the highest quality.

mafi: Please describe in a few words what the mafi brand means to you.

Kellenberger: mafi to me means authenticity and Lifestyle.

mafi: Thank you for the Interview

Kellenberger: Always welcome!
