The Rothaus Brewery Shop by Blocher Blocher Partners, with mafi Domino Ash

The mafi Domino floors are virtually indestructible, ideal for commercial projects and are natural wood floors full of character. The Badisch State Brewery Rothaus shop concept relies on the Ash variation and is a concept by blocher partners and typenraum.

"Convey traditional values with modern design and create authenticity - it is crucial that a brand message can really be experienced within the design", says Jürgen Gaiser from blocher partners. "With the Rothaus Fan Shop, communicating the quality of the brand was the key focus. This was achieved with quality materials and a compelling mix of old and new. The mafi floor helped with its characterful appearance and traditional craftsmanship reflected in a modern interpretation."

Floors of this style have a rich history in Austria as workshop floors because they are extremely robust and resistant.

In this case, our 100-year-old tradition is well beaten. The Rothaus Brewery in the German Black Forest looks back on a history of over 200 years. Initially a monastic brewery, this developed into the Badisch State Brewery Rothaus AG. In 2016, they opened their own fan shop where about 150m² of mafi Domino Ash are installed.

Just in time for its 225-year anniversary, the Badische Rothaus Brewery in Grafenhausen opened its new fan shop over 170 square metres. The concept from blocher partners focuses on contemporary design, warm colours and references to Rothaus history and brewing culture. The mafi Domino Ash natural wooden floor in a greyish warm tone was used here.

In the sales rooms of the traditional brewery, everything revolves around this cult brand. Rothaus’ wide range, from rich beers and whiskeys to the Black Forest traditional dress and on to Vesper utensils, has been setup in various themes by blocher partners. The challenge was to develop a three-dimensional storytelling in accordance with the corporate identity.

mafi Domino as both floor and furniture

In the sales rooms, everything revolves around the traditional brewery - starting with a selection of beers, to Lederhosen, Polo shirts and a variety of other merchandise articles. The interior design concept can probably be classified as an industrial style. The mafi floor fits perfectly into the greyish, genuine colour concept. The orange tube lamps are used for emphasis. The Domino blocks were also used for the shop fittings. Some individual presentation tables and drawers were made from the same material as the floor.

A floor with tradition

The floors of the mafi Domino Collection are cut from end grain timber and glued in blocks of 40 x 40 mm onto parquet net. This results in finished installation elements of 400 x 200 x 19 mm, which must be fully glued to the floor. Unlike the mafi typical 3-layer plank construction, the Domino floors are made of solid wood where particular attention must be placed on a flawless installation. However, the result speaks for itself. Floors of this style have a rich history in Austria as workshop floors because they are extremely robust and resistant. The appearance of the floor is determined by the annual rings of the individual blocks that highlight the floor in a wide range of shades.
