The combination of light brown shades and herringbone installation is impressive. The shaping of the planks laid at 90° turn rooms into something very special. mafi relies on large-format design that delivers its true impact especially in more spacious rooms. A herringbone floor usually impresses with very small and narrow wooden elements, but this can make the rooms quickly seem restless and in the worst case smaller. The wide-plank formats of the mafi herringbone parquet additionally help to enlarge rooms, but therefore also need room to unfold.

The interplay between furniture and floor

We are often asked how the different shades of floor and furniture can be combined. Like a lot of things, this question cannot be answered in a generic way. In this example, however, you can see very nicely that dark brown Biedermeier furniture combines excellently with the light browns of the planks. In addition, the interaction is broken up by the white-oiled surface of the floor, which remains within the colour family but still creates a slight contrast.

Oak Vulcano – the idea behind the fight against tropical woods

The base product for the OAK Vulcano Medium Herringbone 90° is the Oak Vulcano Medium, a thermo-treated Oak which thanks to this completely natural heat treatment, changes its colour from light to dark. The basic idea behind it was to use local woods to produce similar shades to any tropical wood, but without cutting down the lungs of our planet. The wood for the Oak Vulcano Medium comes from sustainably cultivated forests, with the middle layer coming directly from the local region. In addition to the colour change, the source and shrinkage behaviour of the wood is also greatly reduced and thus stability is increased.
