A brief insight

mafi natural wood floors vs. QNG criteria overview

What contribution do mafi wood floors make to QNG?

Based on the QNG requirements catalog (Appendix 313; Version 1.3), we at mafi can offer excellent solutions for the following areas:

  • 1. General requirements for the quality of the building
  • 2.3. Floor coverings - Multi-layer parquet
  • 3.1. Installation materials - Installation materials for wooden wall and floor coverings
  • 6.5. Coatings/varnishes on metal, wood, and plastic - Coatings of wood products with oils
QNG requirement: Point 1

Overall requirement for the quality of the building

Guideline value: Product documentation and declaration of SVHC content < 0.10%

Explanation: SVHC is a collective term for “substances of very high concern” that are classified according to the REACH certification procedure. According to QNG requirements, these substances must not make up more than 0.1% of the product.

Supporting documents: Unfortunately, a manufacturer's declaration is sufficient in this case.

Our solution: mafi goes one step further and confirms the safety of its products and also provides an independent test report in accordance with AGBB.

QNG requirement: Section 2.3. - Floor coverings

Multi-layer parquet

Guideline value: Compliance with AgBB scheme and, in the case of smoked wood, ammonia ≤ 0.1 mg/m3

Explanation: Section 2.3 deals with VOC (volatile organic compound) values, emissions, and hazardous substances in building products.

Supporting documents: Here, too, a manufacturer's declaration is sufficient. Expert reports may also be provided on a voluntary basis.

Our solution: mafi is happy to voluntarily provide a wide range of certificates demonstrating top values in terms of VOCs, emissions, and the like.

QNG requirement: Point 3.1. - Installation materials

Installation materials for wooden wall and floor coverings

Guideline value: EMICODE EC 1 or compliance with the AgBB scheme.

Explanation: Adhesives for floor coverings must emit as little gas as possible and contain no harmful substances.

Supporting documents: Safety data sheet.

Our solution: mafi Connect parquet adhesive EC1PLUS. Here, too, we exceed the requirements. The EMICODE® EC1PLUS seal is the premium class that describes the limits of what is technically feasible. It sets even stricter limits than the best class, EC1.

QNG requirement: Section 6.5. - Coatings/paint finishes on metal, wood, and plastic

Coating wood products with oils

Guideline: Compliance with the AgBB scheme

Explanation: Coatings on wood products in particular often contain substances that are harmful to health.

Supporting documents: Technical data sheet and AgBB quality

Our solution: mafi finishes its floorboards with natural oils. The specific composition and proof of safety can be found in the AgBB certificate, among other places.
