The Skirting Board

For a clean transition from floor to wall, a skirting board is recommended. To ensure a harmonious overall look, mafi manufactures the skirting boards together with the flooring order, thus minimizing differences in wood color and texture. All skirting boards have a length of 2400 mm and can only be purchased in bundles.

The skirting boards serve as both an aesthetic element and a spacer to the wall, hiding the necessary expansion joint. This ensures that the wall is not exposed to moisture or pigmented cleaning agents during floor maintenance. It also protects the wall from potential wear and tear caused by vacuuming.

A variety of possibilities

Alternatives to traditional Skirting Boards:

The stylish mini trim is available in two formats: 2000x10x5 mm or 2000x16x5 mm. The end trim, either in black or titanium, is mounted with wall clips between the wall and the floor, elegantly framing the natural wood floor area.

The mini trim excels in its simplicity and is particularly suitable for modern, minimalist living concepts. It serves as an attractive transition profile where constructional requirements necessitate expansion and connection joints.
As an alternative to skirting boards, mafi offers a wall joint. In this process, the real wood planks are cut to the wall with the utmost precision, and the inevitable gap is grouted and sealed with matching color. The color used corresponds to that of the floor to create a harmonious overall appearance.

Similar to flush-mounted skirting boards, wall joint also creates a very simple look that doesn't emphasize the transition between the floor and the wall. However, the wall is not protected against potential dirt with this solution. This joint is considered a maintenance joint.

While mafi's natural wood floors are highly resistant to warping due to their material-symmetric three-layer construction, regular maintenance and potential renewal of the joint are still necessary.
