O2 Live Concept Store - floors, walls and ceilings

This showroom in Berlin shows how a skilful mix of materials can create completely separate areas whilst still providing a consistent design concept.

In general, we are always proud to be able to create the basis for prominent brands. The telecommunications giant O2 has created a real gem with its concept store.

A total of 300m² of mafi Oak Clear brushed and natural oiled decorates the O2 Live Concept Store in Berlin, Germany. What’s so special? The mafi planks were used not only for the floor but also as wall and ceiling panels. The O2 Store has been awarded the German Design Award, the Iconic Award, and the iF-communication Design Award.

A state-of-the-art lighting concept, with spots and oversized large lamps, harmonises ideally with the Oak Clear and puts the natural grain of the wood especially in focus. Large open areas, mostly kept in white, create an optical separation from the woody areas but without creating a break in the appearance. Instead, individual areas and zones in the showroom have been created, purely through the use of different materials.

It is clear to see that professionals were at work here. The hartmannvonsiebenthal Agency was responsible for this successful concept. This team "translates brands and brand strategies into brand experiences in rooms, at trade fairs and in stores." In addition to the sober design, the O2 Live Concept Store still needed an authentic part, which should create an atmosphere of well-being. Exactly this effect has been achieved thanks to the very natural and genuine mafi floors.

The Oak Clear is a very homogeneous floor which, as the name suggests, impresses less through knots but rather by an elegant grain. In the natural oiled variant, the strong Oak shade comes across particularly well and is often used in combination with cool colours.
