Smoke free

Wood can breathe - and when wood is allowed to breathe it can clean itself

Wood is open, porous, just as human skin and is therefore able to breathe and absorb humidity, soaps and other liquids as well as airborne smells and particles. Because of these open pores wood can also filter the air – think of it as how the air filter in your car air-conditioning works, bad air comes in, good air comes out - wood is a natural filter.

A natural wood floor as your private air filter

Scientists have found that wood only filters, or traps, the bad stuff in the air and releases the good stuff like, ions and oxygen, back into the air. Cigarette smoke is especially filtered by open wood pores.

"Regular and easy oil-soap-washing of our mafi wood will keep the bad stuff from leaving dirty, grey and blue smoke particles and will be washed out of the wood again."

This is the reason why most Austrian bars and restaurants that allow smoking have wood floors and wood walls, to not only give a warm and comfy feeling to the room, but also to keep the room and air smelling fresh. You will immediately recognize this when you enter a bar the day after a party - there is no residual odor.

The most interesting part is that the smells also get away just by opening the window to let the fresh air in. As of the air and humidity exchange the wood "cleans" itself.

Strengthen the wood from the inside not isolating from the outside

Mafi has more than 20 years of positive experience in the restaurant business. Especially in cigarette smoking Austria and across Europe.
But NOTE: This system only works if you leave the wood pores open. If you varnish or lacquer the floor, this does not work at all. Nature is better than plastic.
