Pets

The four-legged friend as a danger to the parquet floor - this view is very common and has good reasons too, depending on the type of wooden floor. Not so with mafi natural wooden floors – simple cleaning, regeneration of scratches and another way of walking on it all account for this.

Simple Cleaning

mafi floors are open pored and can therefore be really thoroughly cleaned. The often quoted lightly wet, floor wiping comes from floors which are primarily sealed in some form and therefore cannot stand too much humidity. This would lead to creepage under the sealing and thereby cause black spots – in just the same way as pet urine would. mafi floors are finished with natural oils from inside out and can absorb larger amounts of liquid. Thus, any unwanted "presents" from one’s pets can easily be tackled with warm water and concentrated mafi wooden floor soap. Simply wash out the contamination carefully in the direction of the plank. Rubbing should be avoided if possible. Once the affected area is dry, this process can be repeated if necessary.

Regeneration of Scratches

Scratches, regardless of whether caused by man or animal, are nothing else but compressed or broken wood fibres. Pet scratches tend to be not so deep and are therefore usually just compressed wood fibres. These supposed damages can regenerate on their own over time on a mafi parquet floor. Regular care with water and mafi wooden floor soap returns humidity and the necessary fats back to the floor, again and again. Thanks to the water, the wood expands like a sponge and any compressed wood fibres return back to the surface. Any scratches evident will disappear – one only has to give the floor a little time, water and soap. The mafi wooden floor soap even serves to prevent scratches. The high fat content of the soap keeps the wood fibres supple, prevents them breaking off and makes it easier for the fibres to retain their shape through damp care.

Walking behaviour

Pets use their claws for stabilisation when they walk and run, basically in order not to slip. This can be especially seen on lacquered surfaces in extreme cases. Wood, however, is really non-slip. Both you and also your animals are in direct contact with the wood on mafi floors. There are no layer forming materials to be found on the surface. Additionally, the wood is brushed which gives it a more intensive haptic.
