What do customers expect with the purchase of a natural wooden floor?
A question that we very often both ask and answer ourselves. The answers are various, often connected to personal memories and not easily standardised. However, some things can nevertheless be stated in common. Interestingly, many of the desirable qualities apply to our product of the month, the Oak Country, brushed and white oiled.
The appearance
With a natural wooden floor, people connect something real, something a little unadulterated. Both knots and cracks also belong to the wood. These are filled in black putty in the Oak Country. Thus, the filled areas combine with the dark shades of the knots and deliver a uniform appearance. Additionally, the knots are thus brought into focus. Together with its lively grain, the Oak Country is a symbol of the naturalness of wood.
The distinctive knot and crack appearance can however, make a floor also seem rustic. Here is where the spirits divide. Some of our customers see the beauty in this, whilst others would like a little more modern appearance but also simultaneously do not want to do without the Oak Country character. Here is where we offer the optimal solution with the white oiled surface. The white pigment contained in the natural oil breaks up the strong yellow tone of the Oak and creates a little brighter, more modern appearance.
The feeling
People who decide in favour of a natural wooden floor want genuine wood, inclusive of all its positive qualities. Therefore, it is important to treat the surface with natural oils, since a direct contact with the wood is only possible in such a way. So-called film-forming substances, like varnish, wax or UV oils seal the surface and cover the wood with an unnatural layer. This leads to the floor seeming colder than it is with the oiled floors.
This also deprives the customer of further advantages. A real natural wooden floor also smells of wood, can positively influence the room climate and has no static charge. Our floors are brushed additionally, which in the true sense of the word, makes the structure of the wood more perceptible.
The origin
The question of the product's origin and how far the materials are sustainable is probably the most increasingly asked question from customers in recent times. This area covers the procurement of raw materials as well as production, and on to the sales.
We choose our trees for processing from sustainable forests. From the trunk, the Planks are produced in both our factories in Steindorf and Schneegattern - both situated within 12 km. Thus, we can guarantee the highest quality standards and have the maximum influence on the individual processing steps. Our natural wooden floors are also therefore produced extremely ecologically.
