The Rombo pattern is then created on the planks with a precise machine finishing. The design runs endlessly across the individual planks and has found a place not only on the wall but also in barefoot areas, such as wellness areas and bathrooms.

The lights and the new materials were chosen in such a way as to harmonise with and even complement the existing fittings. All furniture has been custom made by us, such as the reception area where we have relied on the competencies of mafi.

The “De Cellen” Castle sits embedded in a wonderful park close to Bruges in Belgium. The building was built in 1873 and was originally owned by a private family. In 2012, the Callant Verzekeringen Insurance Group acquired the building.

In the course of the acquisition, the whole building was given a makeover by Inge Hoorne from B´7 Interior Designs. The objective was to implement modern standards with a view to comfort, as well as several new high-tech elements but without detracting from the original character of the building. This led to essential components of the building being retained, such as the modelled ceilings, old wood floors, fireplaces and also the old tiles and mosaics.

The building will now be used as offices and an event location, and offers its own kitchen, a large event room and multiple modern equipped offices. There is also a fitness area for the employees on the lower floor.

“The lights and the new materials were chosen in such a way as to harmonise with and even complement the existing fittings. All furniture has been custom made by us, such as the reception area where we have relied on the competencies of mafi. The rhomboid shape of the mafi panels contains within it the approach for these construction works – naturalness and modern, finely combined,” reflected Inge Hoorne.

The mafi BEECH Vulcano Fresco Rombo natural wood floor is formed from a thermo treated Beech wood. This thermo treatment is done completely without any chemicals and only with wind, heat and water. The Rombo pattern is then created on the planks with a precise machine finishing. The design runs endlessly across the individual planks and has found a place not only on the wall but also in barefoot areas, such as wellness areas and bathrooms.

mafi natural wood floors have a natural oiled and air-dried surface finishing. This ensures the wood remains breathable and the surface original. The symmetrical three-layer construction provides the plank with its required stability, where the back and top layers are made of the same wood with the same thickness. This drastically reduces the movement of the wood and the chance of gaps forming. The pure naturalness rounds off the product – it is free of VOCs and Formaldehyde and is one of the most natural parquets in the industry.
